Kazuo ISHIKAWA / 石川和男

Kazuo Ishikawa finds himself always looking for hidden landscapes as he gathers together a variety of materials to create an artwork. To bring these elements to life, he makes the invisible visible to the viewer through juxtaposing the inconsistencies and complexities. Time, space, and memory systems: In our brains, past, recent, and future events are not arranged in chronological order but rather overlap in a more sloppy manner. They exist while being mixed together. Sometimes, they’re thick, sometimes shallow, sometimes sparse, vague, and mysterious. 時間や空間と記憶のシステム——私たちの脳髄では、昔のものも最近起こった出来事も、また先に予見される出来事もそこまで時系列的になっているわけではなく、もっと雑然と重なり合ったり混ざり合ったりしながら存在している。時には太く、時には浅く、時にはまばらにまたぼんやりと朧げに謎めいている。そういった思考の形象や方向性などを記号化して、作品の制作プロセスと当てはめ、空間的な概念として物質化することをメインコンセプトとしている。　　　2022.1   　ギャルリー東京ユマニテ「Imaginary Landscapes 想定される風景」展示のための文章
